What I liked best about that kiss was that both she and William Shatner knew it had to be included, but the tv executives wanted to film the scene without it. The two of them messed up all the takes without the kiss in subtle ways -- but ensured that they would not be usable when they were reviewed at the end of the day. So there was no choice but to use the scene with the kiss in it.
