Well, this was before the invention of lycra and spandex. :-) Stretchy clothing has come a long way since then.

Although, even though modern leggings stretch at the knees and hips when you sit in them, I wish there was a way to keep them from riding up. Mine always go from full-length to capri-length over the course of a day.
