We were just having this conversation. My neighbor said she was going to the "Beauty Parlor". No one after her generation says that. For a while it was Beauty Salon, then just Salon, then, briefly, Salon & Day Spa. I think personally I've stopped calling the building anything, and refer to the reason I'm going -- "I'm getting a haircut" or "I'm getting my hair deep conditioned".
