We may not have lived in a plague world, but my parents did. It was called Polio. We were on a family vacation when Legionnaires disease broke out--before anyone knew what it was or how it spread. The city was a ghost town. Anyone who absolutely had to be out kept their head down and hurried through public areas as fast as they could. I’d never seen anything like it. They had. There’s a good reason that 12% of AARP members said even though they were fully vaccinated, they planned to continue wearing a mask for the rest of their life. They remember, too.
