This seems kind of a strong leap from the study quoted. After all, the parts of the research paper you cited just indicate that mutations are easier in less-protected areas of the genome. One of the more heavily protected areas governs growth. So how does this make it easier to breed for higher yields? The study may well have reached this conclusion, but it’s not obvious from the parts you quoted.
