That's one way to look at it. The other way to look at it is that no matter how logical and scientific we are, unless we're in an enlightened state of simply watching ourselves act in the world without attachment to outcome, some of our beliefs will be irrational. We *want* things to be a certain way, and get upset when they are not. But if you're willing to revisit your beliefs as to whether or not they serve you, you'll be able to identify and shift the ones that cause you the most emotional distress.
