That's actually not bad. Distributors used to take 55%. It's one of the reasons why authors for traditional publishers made so little... the book might sell for $10, but after everyone took their piece of it, there was maybe $1-2 to spread among everyone who wrote and edited it. That included three editors for each book (for the different stages).
