That is exactly why America encourages hyper-individualism. Because that way, the ones in control are not threatened. Hyper-individualists do not form unions or engage in collective bargaining. The news media - almost all of which are owned by giant corporations - reinforce the story that if *anyone* can succeed, *everyone* should succeed, and if you don't, the fault is entirely yours.
