Perhaps this is the worst sin of the GOP. They demonized the "Green New Deal" so thoroughly, there is no way anything approaching a New Deal could ever get through Congress. They ensured no one would be able to stop their remaking of the country into their chosen image until it is nothing but ashes. A country CAN recover from that...look at Germany today. But it is a bloody, brutal prospect to get from there to here...or here to there, depending on which country you're looking at.
