Our process was hampered by my brother getting a new job for which he needed a security clearance. Since we were getting citizenship in our new country, that would make me a foreign national, and complicate immensely the process for him. So we had to put the process on hold for about 4 months. Then redo a bunch of paperwork that had gotten too old. It was kind of unnerving being in that neither fish nor fowl category for so long. Many of the regulations just didn't apply correctly.
