My husband is shorter than me by about 3 inches total, but most of my height is in my legs. So I love the comfort-height toilets. He has a "squatty potty" (a plastic step-stool that's curved to tuck under the toilet when not in use, and pulls out to rest your feet on when you sit). They were designed to give a more "ergonomic" sitting position for toilet use. But they help for short people, too. :-)
