My husband and I (pre-Covid, when you could spend as much time in a store as you wanted without fear) like to go through the Valentine's Day card selection, and pick out all the cards that match our sentiments, but say it in words much more eloquently than we ever could. We don't BUY the cards, they're ridiculously overpriced. But we show them to each other, and get all teary-eyed and awwwwwww. So I'm appreciative of that part of the consumerism, at least. :-) Otherwise, yes, love and appreciation should be a daily thing, not a yearly thing.
