It's roughly comparable. Things that need to be imported from the States or UK are higher priced, with shipping and duty charges boosting the cost to anywhere from half-again to twice the initial price. Things from within the federation or other CaraCom nations are cheaper. Food at the farm stands is organic and picked that morning, for about $2/lb. Labor is incredibly inexpensive -- one month of house cleaning runs us about $300US, and that's using a superior service. Restaurants vary from the incredibly inexpensive ($10 US for 2 people) to the ultra expensive (over $200 for 2 people). Housing is MUCH cheaper -- we got a 4 BR, 3200 sq ft house on an acre of land with a pool for about what a 3 BR modular home on a pocket square went for in Colorado. On the flip side, though, there are no mortgages to speak of, so you have to buy it outright. Electricity is more expensive, but we don't even have heating installed, and only use air conditioning in the hottest of the summer months. Now that we've replaced all the light bulbs with LED lights, we're spending about what we did in Colorado.

If you want to live frugally, eat mostly vegetarian, and take the $1 bus for transportation, it can be very inexpensive -- we've met many people who are living off their social security. If you want to eat all your meals out at restaurants aimed at tourists and live in an air conditioned environment, though, you'd better be a millionaire.
