It's better than the old days, when the calls went through the transatlantic cable. Calling home from Europe, there was about a 2-4 second delay on everything. So I'd just start to answer a question, and my dad would be yelling, "Jen? Jen? Are you there?" Maddening. Now everything is satellite, and it works well. Except when it doesn't. And dad *still* hasn't figured out cell phones either transmit sound or record sound, but can't do both at the same time, so he REALLY SHOULD turn off the TV playing in the background if he wants to be able to hear me. Or stop asking if I'm there, since as long as he's talking, he can't hear my response. :-) I figure it's up to me to adapt, because clearly he's not going to. :-)
