It is likely true for all property crimes. Assault/murder there are also non-economic reasons, although people who are economically disadvantaged are predisposed to favor current happiness over future happiness, because of their life experiences that have taught them promised future happiness is usually taken away before they can experience it, so the only happiness they can count on is happiness now. Which leads to "crimes of passion" happening more frequently, because current emotions are given outsized importance. So, while economic circumstances may be contributing, that is not the same as the crime being an economic crime.
