It all comes down to people being idiots. Especially in Colorado, nature is no joke. The line between "fine" and "dead" is super thin. I've known experienced local hikers who died because of rock slides, or who had to be hospitalized for severe dehydration. The stories told by the rock climbers are even more hair raising. Unless your dog (and you!) is trained for the activity, they should not go.
