Interesting. I know one redheaded legend that Anne Rice, author of the Interview with the Vampire series, believed was true. Red-headed people had magic, and if you touched them, some of their magic would rub off on you. My friend was at a conference with her, and Anne kept popping up trying to touch her hair. It wasn't *quite* stalking, but it sure made my friend nervous, always watching out for her to pop out of hiding when my friend walked by!
