“I’m quitting writing.”

My husband didn’t look up from his computer screen. “Uh-huh.”

“I’m serious.”

“What are you going to quit next, breathing?”

“Well, not all writing. Maybe I’ll just quit writing on the internet.”

“Are you going to work on the screenplay again?”

“That’s why I ordered that Save the Cat for TV book. I don’t have to stop my other writing to read that.”

“Finishing up your thesis?”

“No. I hit a wall.”

“Going back to writing novels?”

“The short stories are enough fiction. Easy to read. Easy to write.”

“So what, then?”

“So what, what?”

“What are you going to do instead of write on the internet?”

“Maybe you had a good idea.”

“You’re going to work on the screenplay?”

“I already told you I’m planning on that. No, about breathing.”

He finally looked at me. “You’re going to quit breathing? I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“Maybe I should be doing more breath work.”
