I'm in the Caribbean, in the federation of St Kitts & Nevis. We've only got about 50,000 people on both islands, and the monkey population is much higher than that. The monkeys are green vervet monkeys, imported at some point in the distant past, and also without real predators (the occasional dog or monkey bounty hunter). When the islands were actively producing sugar cane, the monkeys were mostly around the sugar plantations. But now they're everywhere.
