I'd add the drive to "find a niche". If you're doing content marketing, and need to attract a specific customer to buy something, sure. That makes sense. If you want to be a writer, you just have to write. Find your voice. Figure out what makes your soul sing to write about. THEN you can refine your work into a niche. Starting with the niche first is a recipe for writing articles that make you dread writing, because you've come to hate the topic so much.
