I think every generation has the heart-sickness moments. When we realize that the world is not a safe place. That point where we go from childish belief in rainbows and unicorns, to adult beliefs that bad things happen to good people, and you can neither predict nor prepare for them. The important thing is whether we look for the good interrupted by bad, or look at the bad, with the good moments just lulling us into a false sense of security.

As a society, I think we're too focused on the bad, with the good just being something to distract us from the bad.
