I normally use the sanskrit words from the TM tradition in my meditations, but I tried this mantra a few days ago as part of my classwork, and found it to be extremely powerful. A similar idea for transforming negative emotions is one I use when doing walking meditations or labyrinths -- Breath in love, breathe out (whatever negative emotion you're getting rid of).
