I never found that to be the case. The side-hustle (or evening-job, as I called it) was what filled my soul so that I had the joy of life necessary to deal with the bureaucratic nonsense of a corporate day-job. For most of my 22 years in corporate America, I loved my job. (There were a few that were not good fits, where I got a new one as quickly as I could.) But even though I loved the work, it would have drained my soul dry if I hadn't had the evening-job to offset it. Now that I'm retired, the evening-job has become my day-job. And my soul is full to bursting.
