I love your writing, whether it's a deeply researched piece (especially the history ones...adore those) or a rant. I bet you even researched your rant. No, wait, I know you did, because you cited actual titles and stories.
I think there are two types of articles about mental health. The "this is my lived experience" articles, that help explain what it feels like to have a particular condition, and the "expert advice" articles, which tell you what to do if you have that condition. You can tell when an author is writing one of the first types, because it's liberally laden with recommendations to talk to mental health professionals. The last thing someone with mental health issues wants to do (unless they're a complete jerk) is make others suffer the way they've suffered...and in general, trying to "solve it yourself" leads to prolonged suffering, not a cure.
See how, even there, I qualified my statement? I don't presume to speak for all people who have suffered mental health issues ... just the decent human beings among them. :-)
Maybe that's the qualification we should be checking for. Was this article written by a decent human being?
