I learned that one when I was a little kid. My very first stock purchase with my own money. Bought the rumor…stock shot up on confirmation…and I held it, because the merger was supposed to create the company of the century. Nope. It went bankrupt and I lost everything. Fortunately it wasn’t much (I think I bought 1 share), but it made me a very cautious investor.
