I just think of the movie, the million dollar duck, where the guy's wife makes homemade applesauce, including the seeds (which are poisonous) so he sets it aside, where it is irradiated and eaten by a lab goose, who starts laying solid gold eggs. At this remove, I don't recall why they had a lab goose, as opposed to a monkey or a rat, like normal labs.
