I bet not. Companies don't care. They care that 1) your healthcare coverage will cost them more, and 2) if you screw up they won't be able to fire you without the threat of an age discrimination law suit, so it's safer not to hire you. And, just so you don't sue them for age discrimination when they don't hire you after your interview, it's safer not to interview you at all.
I got laid off, retrained in a highly desirable field, graduated top of my class, and it meant squat compared to the fact that I was over 40.
