I agree with pretty much everything you're saying. We loaded the pantry with dried beans and 50 lb bags of rice at the beginning of the pandemic. The idea was that, if the supply chains fell apart, we'd still be able to eat, even if it was boring, survivalist food. We spent our pandemic months learning skills and identifying a community that we could be part of, where everyone helped each other get by. We're fortunate, in that we're able to relocate.
The truly sad thing is, that many people called this over two decades ago. If we didn't clean up our acts, clean up the Earth, and invest in the future instead of mindless consumerism, the Earth would clean it up for us. The usual number is around 1/3 of the population destroyed, to bring it back to a sustainable level. In 2021, World Population was estimated at 7.9 billion. So far, we've lost about 6 million to Covid. That's not even close to the target number for a reset. Expect it to get worse, a lot worse.
