Great story! When I was a teenager, planning what to do one summer, I wondered about doing a college-advancement course. My dad discouraged me from it, saying that I had plenty of time to be an adult later, and that I should choose a summer camp to attend instead. I ended up hiking through the mountains in Vermont and New Hampshire, taking canoe trips, and learning how to plant and care for crops and tend animals. That was the last "free" summer I had, since I was then old enough to get summer jobs. I've always been grateful for his advice.
