For some reason, this makes me think of Blazing Saddles, where the townspeople are about to attack their new sheriff because they don't like that he's black, when he suddenly holds his own gun to his head, and says if anybody moves, the sheriff gets it. Well, that calms them right down, because no way are they letting someone shoot their sheriff right before their eyes. Before they figure out exactly what's going on (the townspeople in this movie are not terribly bright), he slowly sidles off the stage, gun pressed to his temple the whole time.

I would hope your display was equally as humorous, but I suspect not.
