Excellent! Perfect story for the season.

I thought for a moment that the dark figure might be Anubis, doing the whole weight-of-your-heart thing (see Crystal Sarakas' excellent retelling of the Anubis legend in The Modern Deity's Guide to Surviving Humanity). I kept waiting for the crocodile to show up. :-) But you put a great spin on the ending.
