Because if they look down on something because it's feminine, that's because the idea of femininity is demeaned. So the thing is associated with all the disparaged traits. Similar things happen with any undesirable demographics, whether gender, nationality, sexual orientation, etc. So long as we as a population are intolerant and dismissive, we will needlessly hamstring our progress.
