At one of our leadership seminars, the goal was to learn to see what was actually before us -- not what we wanted, wished, or hoped for, and not what we feared, disliked, or resented. What was actually there. And then, seeing clearly that something needed to be done, to do it. It works amazingly well when everyone is doing that. Not so well if you're the only one in an organization...then "what needs to be done" becomes not just the task, but training others to take initiative to do the task.
